JCA needs teachers!

Are you a primary/elementary teacher with a heart for children and their learning, alongside a desire to support the essential work of mission organizations serving to meet the great humanitarian and spiritual need in South Sudan? Juba Christian Academy needs teachers like you! Juba Christian Academy (JCA) is a small but growing international Christian school. Without this school, many missionary families would be unable to continue working in South Sudan. We are urgently looking for teachers to join our small team dedicated to the effective learning of these incredible children.

Teachers are excited to teach in a multi-cultural environment and in multi-grade level classrooms, with limited resources but with creativity and resilience by the bucketful! Teachers engage children’s interests in learning, and challenge them, equipping them with skills to become independent and collaborative learners while also providing precise, individualized support. Some subjects are taught through whole-school themes which link to learning to the wider world.

Living and working in Juba

Juba is the capital of South Sudan, the world’s newest country having achieved independence from Sudan in 2011. However, many of the last 60 years have been characterized by civil war. Whilst there is a peace agreement in place, the country continues to suffer from the effects of conflict and climate change. Security around the country is still compromised but Juba is relatively safe, with precautions in place to lessen risk. The city is now seeing development which reflects hope for the future. There is a growing and essential mission and development community. April to November is the rainy season with the dry season usually from December-March. Temperatures range from 23°C to 40°C with February/March being the hottest time.

Please contact us and we can arrange to talk with you about life in Juba!

Teacher Testimonials

“Teaching at JCA has been a learning and growing experience professionally, personally, and spiritually. The biggest blessing has been each and every student taught. The biggest lesson has been that God always provides!”
-Moriah Meyer

“So many of our JCA families would simply not be able to serve as missionaries in Juba if it weren’t for JCA. Our missionary families need a great school to send their children to so that they as parents can continue their day-to-day ministries. I truly believe that JCA is vital to the spread of the Gospel in Juba and throughout South Sudan.”
-Karyn Ball

“There are never dull moments here at JCA and I always leave with a huge smile on my face. Journeying with the little ones and seeing growth in their education keeps me even wanting to work more!”
– Rael Wafula

“It is a joy to teach such a diverse group of children, to provide quality and engaging learning, to see them grow in Grace and love for God. And, because we teach here, missionary families can live here. This means that pilots can fly to those most in need; South Sudanese girls are cared for, educated and discipled; a church is pastored; reconciliation workshops sow the seeds of peace in communities and so much more! It is a truly rewarding teaching experience!”
